Hawkettes too much for Cougars

St. Cecilia's Shandra Farmer is chased by the Sandy Creek
defense Saturday at  Chapman Gymnasium.

Letting the St. Cecilia girls basketball team run the floor and hit easy shots isn't a winning formula for any opposing team. The Sandy Creek girls found that out the tough way Saturday at Chapman Gym.

The Cougars (7-4) turned the ball over on four of their first five possessions, finishing with 21 for the game, allowing the Class C-2 No. 6 Hawkettes to develop a quick lead and never look back in the 64-22 win.

"I keep thinking — I know we're not where we want to be — but our half-court defense is just solid," said STC head coach Jahn Kile, whose squad improved to 8-0.
