The Hastings High girls basketball team entered Saturday's home contest with Lexington with plenty of confidence, but still looking for its first victory of the season.
The Tigers had just nearly knocked off the Minutemaids a week before in the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference tournament before falling by two points in overtime.
And Saturday, the Minutemaids were without one of their top players in Halle Gydesen, who had scored 19 points in her team's GNAC tournament victory.
But Lexington was resourceful and found other ways to win despite not having Gydesen because of an injury.
Senior point guard Casey Seberger poured in a game-high 21 points to help lift Lexington to a 34-27 victory over the Tigers. The loss knocked the Tigers to 0-9 on the season, while Lexington improved to 4-7.
