Raiders knock off Hornets 42-29

NELSON — The Lawrence-Nelson boys basketball team collected eight total wins in the previous two seasons, tallying four victories in each year. This season, the Raiders already have six wins, and after Tuesday's victory over Giltner, L-N head coach Tom Jensen is excited with the direction of his team.

Lawrence-Nelson held Giltner to its second-lowest scoring total of the season in a 42-29 victory in Nelson. Jensen said his team's hard work is finally starting to pay off.

"We've had three long seasons with very few wins and very few successes. We used to play at this level. But what was going through my head was all of the hours our kids spent in the gym this summer," said Jensen, whose team has won four of its last five games. "With the way the season started, maybe it didn't look like we could do this, but we've sensed since the holiday tournament that maybe we could play at this level.
