Monday night's win over an improved Silver Lake squad is just the prologue for what lies ahead this week and beyond for the Sutton girls basketball team.
Tonight, the Class C-2 No. 10 Fillies' six-game winning streak will be put to the test when they travel to take on Class C-1 No. 5 Fillmore Central (11-1).
While one game in the regular season doesn't make or break much, this game will be important for the girls' psyche. Sutton (9-2) has beat only two teams that currently have winning records — one of which came Monday against Silver Lake. A win tonight proves that the team has taken the next step.
"We're excited to see where we're at," first-year head coach Monica Smith said this morning. "We have to get over the hump and get a victory tonight."
