Every time the Adams Central boys basketball team made a run Friday night during its game against Northwest, the Vikings had an answer.
No answer was bigger, however, than the seven-point explosion that Vikings used during a 40-second span in the final three minutes of the contest to propel themselves to a 50-37 victory over the previously undefeated Patriots.
Class C-1 No. 2 Adams Central (12-1) had managed to cut the Viking lead to 37-35 with four minutes left in regulation following a 3-pointer from Jake Fowler. But the team missed an opportunity to tie the game after missing the front end of a one-and-one free throw opportunity on its next possession.
