Saturday's game with Class C-1 No. 3 Kearney Catholic wasn't a must win for the Class C-2 No. 3 St. Cecilia girls basketball team.
But it would have been a nice way to end an extremely tough week that the Hawkettes have faced. The Stars were the third top-five team in their respective class that STC battled in as many games.
But the results remained the same, as St. Cecilia couldn't keep up with the Stars in a 49-31 setback at Chapman Gymnasium.
The latest loss, though, exposed an issue the Hawkettes need to fix right away, according to their coach.
"I just think it comes down to shooting and confidence is low right now. We need to get that back. I think we will but it takes time," said STC head coach Jahn Kile, whose team dropped its third straight and fourth game in five tries to fall to 9-4 on the season. "Every team goes through those stretches and we have to work hard and get some practice and get some swagger back for next week."
