HC women beat Doane to even record

CRETE — For the second time this season, the Hastings College women's basketball team knocked off rival Doane. The Broncos rallied from seven points down at halftime to defeat the Tigers 59-55 Wednesday. HC also defeated Doane 71-55 Nov. 28, 2012, in Hastings.

The Broncos came from behind to beat the Tigers (5-15, 0-12) thanks in large part to Cami Bruckman's game-high 20 points and eight rebounds. Laurel Zwiener added 11 points, grabbed six rebounds and had three assists after coming off the bench.

With the win, Hastings College made it back to a .500 record at 11-11 overall and 6-6 in the GPAC. HC's next opponent is NAIA Division II No. 5 Briar Cliff (17-4, 8-3). The Broncos hit the road for Sioux City, Iowa, to play the Chargers at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
