No. 1 Minden survives in OT

The Class C-1 No. 1 Minden girls basketball team hadn’t experienced a game like the one it had Thursday night against C-2 No. 3 St. Cecilia yet this season.

In fact, most of the Whippets’ games were shortened by the new 40-point mercy rule. That’s just how dominant they’ve been.

Against the Hawkettes, though, they needed to be able to play a complete game — even down to the last second.

The full capacity crowd at Chapman Gymnasium was on its feet, and the Whippets found themselves in a spot where they’d have to make a big play. So, of course, it was a freshman who did it.
