GIBBON — The first quarter of Doniphan-Trumbull's game against Gibbon was a high-tempo slugfest, ending with Gibbon leading 21-18. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the offense sputtered in the final three quarters.

The Class C-2 No. 6-ranked Cardinals fell 57-42 on Friday to the Buffaloes. D-T head coach Steve Hartman said his team just couldn't find a way to score down the stretch.

"We struggled, but you have to give Gibbon credit. They played pretty well," he said. "In the second half, we just couldn't score. We got a lot of stops and had some opportunities… We just couldn't find a way to score. They just packed the lane on us, and they did a good job of putting bodies on us and we couldn't get our inside game going."
