KENESAW — Winning any wrestling invite is always a good thing, but there’s something extra satisfying about winning a home invite.

On Saturday, the Shelton/Kenesaw wrestling team won the Shelton/Kenesaw invitational, tallying 147 points — 20 more than second-place Loomis-Bertrand. Six Devil Dogs wrestlers advanced to the finals with three taking winning gold medals.

“We never want to lose our home invite. Throwing a tournament like that, there’s an expectation to win,” said Shelton/Kenesaw head coach Joel Ferguson. “They came through and did that, which was good.”

Doniphan-Trumbull finished fourth with 93 points, while Wilcox-Hildreth placed sixth with 60. Red Cloud/Blue Hill (38) tied for 10th, and St. Cecilia scored 29 points for 12th.
