The Adams Central girl’s basketball team has been plagued with injuries and illnesses this season, which has forced head coach Tim Marker to dig into his bench.
On Saturday, the Patriots were given a spark from freshman Elyse Keller who helped hold off a furious D-T run in the second half.
Keller went a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line, with four of those coming in the last 15 seconds of the game. She also led the team in scoring with 12 points, as the Patriots defeated Doniphan-Trumbull 45-42 in Lou Platte Conference play.
“That’s a tough situation, and you just mentally have to put yourself in that situation the best that you can,” Adams Central head coach Tim Marker said. “She’s a freshman, and she hasn’t played a lot for us, but has been forced to play with the injury situation we have.
