AC girls fall to Lexington in closing seconds

Thursday's girls basketball game between Adams Central and Lexington was a roller coaster, to say the least.

The Patriots fell 37-36 in a game that saw 14 lead changes at Adams Central. The Minutemaids were the second consecutive Class B opponent for Adams Central, and the Patriots were 10 seconds away from coming away with a victory on parents' night.

Adams Central (7-11), which was coming off a loss to crosstown rival Hastings High on Tuesday, had the ball with less than one minute remaining in the game. With 29 seconds left and the game tied 34-all, AC sophomore Carly Bostock rose up from the free-throw line and buried a jumper to give her team a two-point lead.

Lexington (5-11) called a timeout to set up a play to try to tie the game. Senior Casey Seberger received the ball and looked to get the ball inside the paint. When she saw the play was broken, Seberger drained her first 3-pointer of the game with nine seconds remaining to give Lexington a 37-36 lead.
