The Hastings High boys basketball team may start three underclassmen, but through most of Friday's game against Northwest, the Tigers looked like a squad of veterans.
Hot shooting and some key free throws propelled Hastings High past its rival, 54-53. HHS head coach Lance Creech was proud of the way his team fought through the victory.
"It wasn't pretty by any stretch, but I thought we just made some gutsy plays. The kids stepped up and made the plays that we needed to have to win a basketball game," Creech said. "We got some crucial rebounds down the stretch, and we executed our defensive game plan pretty well."
