YORK — Giltner had no answer for Ryan Tegtmeier Friday night.
The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley senior scored 28 points, hitting 16-of-17 free throws, to lead the Eagles to a 47-40 win over the Hornets in the championship game of the Crossroads Conference tournament.
Free throws was the difference in the game, as BDS went 20-of-24 at the line and the Hornets were just 4-for-13.
E-M girls top Hornets for title
YORK — Midway through the first quarter of the Crossroads Conference girls basketball tournament championship game, Giltner led Exeter-Milligan 9-4.
A timeout by Exeter-Milligan coach Jackson Krejci changed everything.
The Timberwolves ended the first quarter on a 5-0 run to tie the score after eight minutes of action, then outscored Giltner 20-0 in the second quarter on the way to a 47-34 win.
"Defense is our pride, and defense was definitely the key tonight," E-M head coach Jackson Krejci said. "We strategize all season how to shut down different offenses and in the second quarter, we just turned it up a notch, turned on the press and were able to force turnovers and net points from the transition."
