Big second quarter lifts Patriots past GICC

GRAND ISLAND — The Adams Central Patriots (11-5) scored a big win Saturday by defeating Grand Island Central Catholic (11-5) 64-54.

With the score tied at 17 with 5:28 remaining in the second quarter, the Patriots would go on a 14-2 run to end the first half. Freshman guard David Bohlen would score nine of his team-high 20 points in the run, and sophomore Kyler Wormstadt would contribute the other five points.

“That was big because we got a nice lead,” Bohlen said. “We just wanted to stay with our game. We know what we’re capable of. We just wanted to get the win. Everyone contributed tonight.”
