Free throws push Thayer Central past Cougars

FAIRFIELD – A weak link turned into a strength for the Thayer Central boys’ basketball team Saturday.

Thayer Central shot 77 percent from the stripe to help the Titans capture a 64-51 win over Sandy Creek.

Good free-throw shooting is rare for TC this season.

“Typically, we haven’t shot them well. We are right around 50 percent at the free-throw line,” said Thayer Central coach Clint Havel.
