Hastings College's Cami Bruckman dribbles against Midland
University 's Shelby Rupprecht Wednesday at Lynn Farrell
Arena.
Don't lose focus.
That was the message Hastings College head women's basketball coach Carrie Hofstetter had for her team before its game against Midland on Wednesday.
The Broncos, who were coming off their most impressive win to date in an upset of NAIA Division II No. 9 Northwestern on Saturday, didn't let their first-year leader down with a 73-56 win at Lynn Farrell Arena.
It's the fourth win in five games, with the only setback coming to No. 5 Briar Cliff in overtime. HC (13-12, 8-7 GPAC) now sits in a tie for sixth with Dakota Wesleyan in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings.
With the power programs owning the upper echelon of the conference ratings, Hofstetter said her team couldn't have a letdown against the Warriors (9-16, 4-12).
"I think our kids are so much more mentally tough now. When you get down to the end of the season, you can't lose any focus. You've got to chip away at every game and try to get the next one," she said. "You have to try and get a good situation for the conference tournament, and I think our kids understand that."
