The boys and girls riding bikes and scooters around Fisher Fountain took advantage of cool weather Friday as they participated in the YWCA of Adams County's annual Independence Day children's parade.

"You couldn't ask for better weather," YWCA executive director Jennifer Lewis said after the parade. "It's usually extremely hot and the breeze just helped it out a little bit, especially for these little ones."

The temperature hovered around 80 degrees while a crowd that Lewis estimated to be between 800 and 1,000 people, including adults, watched or participated in the parade.
