Elevator explosion injures 2


Mangled steel hangs from the top of a grain elevator following
an explosion late Friday afternoon in Sedan.

SEDAN — An explosion at the Aurora Cooperative grain elevator here injured a farmer and one employee around 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Dawn Caldwell, corporate communications manager for Aurora Co-op, said the two were taken to the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva before being life-flighted to the burn center at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.

"Our first concern is with the farmer and employee who were injured," said George Hohwieler, president and CEO of Aurora Co-op.
