Hastings Post 11 charters Riders program

It was a trip to St. Paul that inspired Jesse Green.

Green, adjutant of Hastings' American Legion Post 11, attended the annual Nebraska American Legion Convention there in September 2012. He met the state American Legion Rider liason.

As second in command for Hastings' legion post he thought for sometime about creating a local Legional Rider branch but it was that conversation that put him over the edge.

"After I talked to him that little spark I had deep in my soul lit a fire and burned and the more I talked to him the hotter the fire got," he said.

That plan came to fruition last month when the Hastings' American Legion Post 11 American Legion Riders organization was chartered.
