Book sale booming

Shoppers, including Donna Montemayor, right, look through
the mysteries, suspence and thrillers section at the
Hastings Public Library book sale Friday at the Hastings
City Auditorium.

For Deb Lyons of Hastings, it was easy-to-read books to stock her daughter-in-law's first-grade classroom for the fall.

For Doris Rempe of Lawrence and Sheila Rempe of Hastings, it was cookbooks filled with set-and-forget crockpot recipes.

Book lovers of all genres filled the Hastings City Auditorium Friday evening for the 31st annual Friends of the Library Book Sale.

With around 50,000 books, CDs and other items available, there was something for everyone at the massive sale.

Lyons said it was the first time she paid the $5 admission to go on Friday evening, but it was worth it.

"You get the best selection," she said.
