HARDY — After a long journey, Denise Fuller is finally getting her high school diploma at age 35.

Thanks to the General Educational Development program at Hastings Literacy Center and Central Community College-Hastings, Fuller will walk down the aisle Friday and receive her high school diploma after more than 10 years' of effort.

Fuller, of Hardy, didn't have an easy life growing up. Her parents divorced after 10 years of marriage when she was 3.
She said her mother struggled with alcohol and the family never stayed put for long.

"My mom bounced us kids from place to place," Fuller said. "We just never stayed in one place, and it was hard to make friends."
