The neutral canvas of the Adams County Fairgrounds Activities Center was splashed with color and craftsmanship Monday as entrants in the Open Class categories dropped off prize-contending textiles, produce, foliage, woodwork and more.

Although the Adams County FairFest is a decades-standing community staple, and the Open Class organizers are old-hat at the workings of the fair, the variety of entries made this year as unique as each before it, the supervisors said.

"I've yet to see anything ugly today," said Pat Jensen, a volunteer who helped sort quilt and needlework entries Monday.
