of Valor foundation Wednesday afternoon in Hastings.

Two Clay County Korean War veterans were honored Wednesday for their gallant service.

LaVerne Yost of Harvard and Maurice Salmen of Sutton received Quilts of Valor from the Nebraska branch of the Quilts of Honor Foundation.

The quilts were presented to the men by Adams County Veterans Service Officer Chris Long in the assembly room of the Adams County Office Building.

Long said the first 136 quilts made go to Korean War veterans who participated in the first honor flight in March, which transported Nebraska veterans to Washington, D.C.
