Kids get creative with ice cream

There's a saying that there's always room for ice cream.

Adams County 4-H members proved Friday there is indeed plenty of room for ice cream, especially when it is of the just-made variety and served fresh from pint-sized cans or plastic bags.

The 4-H Ice Cream in a Can & Clover Kid Ice Cream in a Bag Team Contest featured 30 teams of two battling for best ice cream bragging rights in one of the tamer events held at the fair each year. Following a recipe and general guidelines, contestants whip up small batches of homemade ice cream from the most basic of ingredients — sugar, milk, and any number of creative flavors.
