Aubrey Sweley, 11, of Blue Hill, prepares her pullet and
cockerel for judging before the poultry show Friday morning
at the Adams County Fair.

´╗┐Voaglan Katzberg walked into the poultry barn Friday just as the grand champion standard pullet sign was being attached to his brown leghorn's cage. It was being attached by Lanay Grothen, 14, of rural Hastings, who had shown Katzberg's bird on his behalf while Katzberg competed in the beef show nearby.

The 4-H beef and poultry shows took place concurrently Friday morning at Adams County Fairfest.

"I know now that I worked very hard for it," said Katzberg, 9, of Prosser about his grand champion award.
