4-H'ers cool off with competition

April Crandell typically is not a fan of banana splits.

So when her mother suggested she make a banana split-flavored entry for the 4-H ice cream in a can contest Friday afternoon at Adams County FairFest, the 17-year-old Inland girl was less than enthused.

" 'I was just like uh, OK,' " she said. "But I don't really have any other options, so there we go."

Then she tasted her ice cream.

"It was amazing," she said.
