New site helps church clear Planning Commission

After being turned down the first time, the Gospel Community Church finally was recommended for a conditional use permit to conduct church services.

In June, the church failed to gain the approval of the Hastings Planning Commission for a conditional use permit at a site they wished to rent in the downtown development district.

Planning Commission members said they didn’t mind the church being established in the city; they just objected to it being located in the downtown redevelopment district.

Church pastor Ryan Booth didn’t give up and found another location at 235 S. Burlington Ave. Monday, members of the Hastings Planning Commission recommended the City Council grant Gospel Community a conditional use permit to conduct church services at the location.
