FACES OF TRIBLAND: Pastor finds place to rock in pulpit

Patrick Duffy, head pastor at First St. Paul's Lutheran
Church in Kenesaw, is pictured in at the church Monday
afternoon. Duffy is celebrating his 15th year at the
church this summer.

KENESAW — As a young rock musician in Orange County, Calif., Paul Stephen Duffy imagined a future playing for sold-out crowds and signing autographs.

But God, he says, had a different plan for his life.

Instead of playing on stage with his band and rubbing elbows with fans each weekend, Duffy can be found preaching from the pulpit and shaking hands with church people.
Last month, the 51-year-old celebrated 15 years as pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kenesaw.

Giving up the music industry dream of his youth didn't mean giving up music altogether. Duffy still writes his own music and sings, accompanied by his 12-string guitar. He has several albums under his belt, available for purchase on his website, and enjoys the occasional solo acoustic performance, like the Kearney Live Music street concert he gave July 11.
