for the opening of the new building Sunday.

Zion Lutheran Church and School celebrated the completion of a new gymnasium this weekend with two concerts and a community luncheon.

The new gym, named the Performance Center, was dedicated July 20. On Saturday, the building was used to feature Christian music group Shine Like Stars. The church held a community luncheon to showcase the new facility on Sunday. On Sunday evening, there was an open house for the new building as well as a Christian music concert featuring Dave Anderson.

Loren Uden, congregational president, said the concerts helped showcase the capabilities of the facility.

At the opening celebration Sunday, the Rev. Russell Sommerfeld, president of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Nebraska District, visited to congratulate the church on the new addition.

“This was built to bless the entirety of the ministry you have here,” he said.
