Hastings author enjoying double-barreled success
For Hastings author Monty McCord, the accomplishment is unprecedented: two books released the same year.
McCord, 59, who retired from law enforcement in 1998 after 23 years of police work, has been writing books dealing with law enforcement and local history since. His latest book, "The 1931 Hastings Bank Job & Bloody Bandit Trail (The History Press)," was released earlier this month, while a previous work, "Mundy's Law: The Legend of Joe Mundy (Books in Motion)," initially released in audio format only in 2009, will hit the shelves in hardback (Five Star-Cengage) on Sept. 18.
"I told my wife (Ann), 'This will never happen again, where I have two books come out in one year,' " McCord said. "This is kind of a banner year for me."
