City Council renews BID

The Business Improvement District has been in place in Hastings since 1986, but its director says the BID’s goals remains the same: To show Hastings residents and visitors that the downtown area is a great place to work, shop, play and live.

Randy Chick said the BID has made a big difference in the downtown area.

“While many things have changed, our basic goals are still the same. Downtown revitalization is all about restoring value. If the businesses don’t see value in the area, they won’t be here. If customers don’t see value, they aren’t going to be here. If property owners aren’t able to get sufficient rental income, they’re not going to come to the table with their dollars to reinvest in their properties,” Chick said during Monday’s City Council meeting.
