Skeen wins Adams County Open

Mike Skeen putts onto the second green during the Adams
County Open Sunday at Lochland Country Club.

When Mike Skeen won the 2008 Adams County Open Championship Flight, he orchestrated an impressive comeback. Skeen was two groups behind the leaders.

In this year's open, Skeen found himself five strokes ahead of the pack and in a position he's not particularly fond of.

"It was more conservative golf than the last time I won it," Skeen said. "This time, it was just playing for par, and that's really not my game."

In the Ladies Flight, Matti Yurk won her first Adams County Open, but it wasn't easy. Yurk was one stroke behind first-round leader Shelly Hartford after the first round. The two battled in the tournament's final day at Lochland Country Club on Sunday, but it was Yurk who won the women's championship by one stroke.

"It was pretty nerve-wracking," Yurk said. "It felt good to be out here, and I guess the nerves are still there. It feels good to finally get a win though."
