Up until the championship game, no team in the Cornhusker League had beaten Hastings Johnson Imperial Homes.

It took a balanced effort from Lincoln Pius X Sandhills Publishing to finally do it in the league final Monday night at Duncan Field.
Pius tallied 13 hits on offense while its starting pitcher, Michael Helman, went six innings and gave up just four hits in a 10-2 win.

"We knew they were going to be good. Tip the hat to their pitcher," said JIH head coach Russ Kindig, whose team fell to 26-11 and ended the league season 10-1. "He did a great job of getting ahead and staying ahead of the count."
