championship game Wednesday night in Lincoln.

LINCOLN — A day off was just what Hastings Johnson Imperial Homes pitcher Matt Krontz needed.

After lightning and rain forced the suspension of the Monday’s Cornhusker League junior legion title game between Hastings and Lincoln Sandhills Publishing (Pius X) with the score tied 2-all in the bottom of the fourth inning, the two teams resumed action Wednesday night at Sherman Field.

Krontz, who started on the mound both Monday and Wednesday, and his defense got out of an early jam to help JIH go on to post a 9-4 win.

“It was a good thing. It killed their momentum,” Krontz said of the break. “It gave me a day off. I was kind of losing it a bit on Monday. It helped me get my velocity back, which helped a lot.”
