Five Points Bank punches ticket to state

NORTH PLATTE — The Five Points Bank American Legion baseball team punched its ticket to the Class A senior state tournament with a 9-6 win over First Nationals (North Platte) Monday at the Class A, Area 7 tournament.

Five Points Bank got its revenge against North Platte after First Nationals beat FPB on a walk-off single in the opening round on Friday.

Hastings went into the top of the ninth inning tied at 6-all, but scored three runs before holding off North Platte for the victory.

“There’s not a better feeling right now. To see these kids work and work and the smiles on their faces and the 14 of them becoming one as a team — you can’t put words on that,” said FPB coach Russ Kindig in a postgame radio interview.
