FPB falls to Kearney in A-7 finals

Five Points Bank's Broc Dreher hits a double to lead off the game.

NORTH PLATTE — The final day of the Class A, Area 7 tournament at Bill Wood Field was full of mixed emotions for the Five Points Bank American Legion baseball team.

Hastings fell to Kearney Runza 14-7 in the area championship, but FPB will still be heading to the state tournament in Omaha as the A-7 runner-up.

After five straight days of playing baseball, Five Points Bank gets to return home to rest and prepare for the state tourney, which begins Saturday.

“It was a different situation, knowing that we were in already. We didn’t want to waste any pitching. We’re going to need everything we have come Saturday,” said Hastings coach Russ Kindig.
