Johnson Imperial Homes’ season came to a stunning end on Tuesday night on its home turf.

The American Legion junior baseball team only had to beat North Platte First Nationals once to advance to the juniors state tournament. But it wasn’t to be as the visitors kept their season alive with a 13-6, 5-2 sweep of JIH.

“It’s difficult. North Platte wanted this more than us,” said head coach Blake Marquardt, whose team finished the season at 33-18. “They played for big innings, and they got them. That’s the name of their game, they play for big innings. We couldn’t stop them.”
