The Five Points Bank senior American Legion baseball team is no stranger to facing tough competition.

This season, FPB has faced nine opponents that are getting ready for the Class A state tournament. While Hastings is 7-10 against such competition, Five Points Bank went 4-1 against teams in its bracket of the state tournament.

"Of the two, Creighton Prep, Lincoln Pius X and Grand Island are all in the National (Division)," said Five Points Bank coach Russ Kindig after Tuesday's game against Kearney. "Not that either (division) will be easy, but if we can get away from Grand Island — who is the best team we've seen this year — we'll be happy with that."

Hastings is in the American Division of the Class A state tourney and will take on the Fairway Asset Mustangs (Millard North), a team FPB beat 5-1 on June 13, in the first round Saturday at 5 p.m.
