HEBRON — Going into the Class C American Legion baseball state tournament, Hebron knew it wasn’t just another host team.

Though others may have assumed Hebron would go down easily, it proved doubters wrong by becoming one of the final three teams heading into the last day of the tournament.

Hebron beat Sutton 9-1 to advance into the championship game against Shelton-Gibbon, which beat Hebron earlier in the tournament.

Unfortunately for Hebron, errors led to costly runs for Shelton-Gibbon as Hebron’s state tourney run came to an end with a 5-1 loss on Wednesday.

“I thought I saw a lot of desire and intensity to finish the game and win the game. We just committed a couple too many errors to keep it closer than what it was,” said Hebron head coach Mark Hintz.
