County board appoints acting public defender

Adams County Deputy Attorney Sam Zeleski was appointed the county's acting public defender this morning.

The Adams County Board of Supervisors made the appointment at a special meeting held to determine the interim post, which was vacated following the May 24 death of Arthur Toogood. He had held the position since 1983.

"We're going to miss Art. He was a good guy and he did good for a lot of people," said board chairman Chuck Neumann.

The board unanimously approved Zeleski's temporary appointment. He has been with the county for 10 years.
