SUTTON — A group of 16 high school students from around the area are learning this week the key to acting is engaging the audience and other actors.

That lesson is the emphasis of the Allegro Wolf Arts Center's Broadway Musical Theatre Academy, which runs during the week, culminating with the Musical Theatre Showcase 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Allegro Wolf, 304 S. Way St. in Sutton.

It's a lesson taught by 28-year-old Broadway actor Darick Pead, who plays Beast in the North American tour of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."

"So many people think it's all about them and they want the glory and they want the applause at the end," he said. "Really what it should be about is giving people an experience so they can be able to learn and grow and be able to let go of life for a while, laugh and have fun."
