Hastings College student Johnny Johnson has dreamed of working in a theater building sets, rounding up costumes and learning lines all day long.

That dream became a reality this summer with the creation of the first Summerstage Season at Hastings College.

"I've never worked in a theater besides in school or community shows," Johnson said. "I just wanted to be a part of the entire process."

The Summerstage Season is a one-production summer program that gives college students the chance to experience all the aspects of putting on a theatrical production — from set building to advertising. Students also get the chance to interact with both community and high school thespians who also are involved in the production.
