Good Sam Samboree rings in 34th year in Nebraska

Elmer Brown gives his Good Sam vest to Lana Waldron for
her to sew on his newest Samboree patches at the Adams
County Fairgrounds Thursday. The Samboree is being held
at the fairgrounds through Sunday.

Camping enthusiasts Clarence, 80, and Shirley Peetzke, 78, of Stromsburg say that they don't feel as light on their feet as they did in their younger, more adventurous years.

But that doesn't stop them from greeting the open road and the great outdoors with the same enthusiasm they've exhibited in the past. Their membership in the Good Sam organization — and their hard-sided camper rig — allow them to do just that.

The pair was one of about 230 couples — more than 450 individuals — who hauled recreational vehicles and campers from across the region to convene at the Good Sam Organization's 34th Nebraska State Samboree at the Adams County Fairgrounds this weekend.

The annual event has become a staple in the schedule of many Good Sam members in Nebraska and the surrounding states, including the Peetzkes, who say that the Hastings Samboree is one of the nicest they've been to.
