From the time she was a child, Sue Underwood Placek loved to watch her father play the accordion.
“I always wanted to learn to play but he played the accordion left handed, so he played it upside down and it was just a mirage of buttons to me,” Placek said. “I couldn’t figure out what he was doing until I picked one up myself.”
And once she picked up her first accordion and started to play, Placek said she could never put it down.
Placek joined a group of other accordion players on stage Saturday at the 39th annual Czech-Slovak Festival at the Hastings Eagles Club.
