Former Councilwoman Marilyn Will dies

Former Hastings City Councilwoman Marilyn Will is being remembered as a well-researched and supportive council member who also was a big softball fan.

Will died Monday at Mary Lanning Healthcare. She was 77.

She first was elected to the council in 1990, representing the Fourth Ward, and was re-elected twice after that. After she was defeated in 2002 by Tom Yilk, she was voted back onto the council in 2004, that time occupying the other Fourth Ward seat.

"I think Marilyn was a great council member," City Administrator Joe Patterson said. "She was always supportive of staff, and I think she was a council member who did her homework and tried to look at all these issues as objectively as possible.
