City's package more than $8 million

More than $8 million in cash and in-kind services are on the table as part of the city's bid to bring the Central Nebraska Veterans Home to Hastings.

The city's proposal was approved by the Hastings City Council at a special meeting Tuesday and hand-delivered to state officials in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon by Dave Rippe, executive director of the Hastings Economic Development Corp.

"I think we put together a proposal that made a lot of sense for Hastings," Rippe said this morning.

"We can't worry about what Grand Island put together or what Kearney put together or what North Platte put together. We put together the proposal that made the most sense for our community."
