The Hastings Board of Education may have to make some tough decisions when it comes to the district's financial future over the next 15 months.
At Thursday's board work session, director of finance Jeff Schneider gave the board a heads-up about the future budget situation.
"For the 2014-15 school year, we're going to have to use cash to balance the budget," he said. "No doubt our expenses are going to rise more than our revenues."
There is cash available to balance the budget for the 2014-15 school year, but Schneider's real concern is for the 2015-16 fiscal year, unless the district realizes more revenue than expected.
