Memorial to honor Kenesaw's military veterans, fire department
A fundraising drive is now officially under way for a memorial honoring Kenesaw residents who have served in the U.S. military or Kenesaw Volunteer Fire Department.
Spearheaded by former department member Pat Jacobsen, who served 19 years as an EMT and firefighter, the project involves erecting a memorial on property donated to the department by Adams County Bank.
"This is to honor the veterans in the military branches and firemen because they've given so much to the community," Jacobsen said. "We don't have a memorial in town to honor them and wanted a place where people can come to town and say, 'This is a very nice memorial.' "
