4-Hers explore great outdoors

Eight-year-old Kaiden Blackburn of Deweese casts out his
line while trying out his pop can fishing pole during 4-H
Day Camp at Crystal Lake Wednesday afternoon.

AYR — “There’s a fish. I caught a fish. It’s so cute.”

Chloee Johnson, 10, slowly reeled in the catch on the end of her line as other kids gathered around.

“She caught a fish.” “Chloee caught a fish,” other children yelled down the bank of Crystal Lake.

The brightly colored fish she brought in was 4 inches long and generated “oohs” and “aahs” from the other kids.

Fishing was just one of several activities the kids participated in as part of the 4-H Day Camp at Crystal Lake Wednesday.

This is the first year in recent history that the Adams and Clay County Extension offices have paired together to host a day camp.
